Minecraft Default Options Mod 1.18.1 (Default Settings)

Minecraft Default Options Mod 1.18.1 (Default Settings)

The Default Options Mod 1.18.1 allows modpacks to transmit default settings without including an options.txt file (as that would override player changes).

Setting up Default Keys:

  • In the default configuration, configure the keys as you choose.
  • Run the command "/defaultoptions saveKeys": The defaultkeys.txt file will be stored in the configuration folder.
  • Make sure you transport the defaultoptions folder within the config directory, not the options.txt file from the modpack's root directory. Victory!

Examine the Controls GUI to determine if the default settings have been modified. By default, players will now begin with these keys.

Setting up Default Options:

  • Configure the choices (for example, FOV, video and audio settings) to how you like them in the default setup.
  • Run the "/defaultoptions saveOptions" command to save the file defaultoptions.txt in the config folder.
  • Make sure you transport the defaultoptions folder within the config directory, not the options.txt file from the modpack's root directory. Woohoo!
Fresh installs of your pack (i.e. no existing options.txt) will now have the default choices you selected.

Setting up Default Servers (Minecraft 1.9.4+):

  • In fresh installations, configure the servers the way you want them to be.
  • Run the "/defaultoptions saveServers" command to copy the file servers.dat into the defaultoptions folder.
  • Make sure you send the defaultoptions folder, not the servers, within the config directory.
  • dat from your modpack's root directory Victory!

Setting up Default Configs (Minecraft 1.9.4+):

If you want to configure your modpack such that users may edit certain config files without having them overwritten by updates, place those files in the defaultoptions folder rather than the config folder. On the initial execution of the pack, those files will be transferred over to the config folder. Unfortunately, Minecraft's mod setups aren't standardized enough to give a more complicated solution without causing significant disruption.
